Eclectic Meets Feng Shui

ec·lec·tic /i╦łklektik/: Deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.

Often times, when we try to decorate a space, we think that everything has to match, from the drapes, to the rug, to the furniture upholstery, etc. This might be true to a certain extent, but why not add a little fun in the mix by adding accessories and pieces that don't match? In doing so, not only do you create a unique, eclectic space by mixing things up a little, but you can also easily incorporate your favorite feng shui elements in to your decor without feeling like they are out of place. Here are a few examples of my favorite eclectic spaces. Aren't they awesome?!

Creating an eclectic space is fun, but not always as easy as it may seem. To learn more about how to create an eclectic space, check out 'House of Fifty's' free, online fall magazine here (see page 52) for a great article on how to do so. Happy reading!

Decorating for Spring

Spring is here and it is time to get your home ready for the season with colors that will brighten up your space. The great thing about sprucing up your decor for spring is that these colors can be carried on through summer, making for a quick and easy transition of the seasons. With just a few simple changes, your home will be ready for spring in no time. Today's post is inspired by this first image: citrus colors. Citrus accents are bright, fun and add a beautiful color to any room. By switching out a few throw pillows on your couch, changing your bedspread, or adding a few bright accessories, including fresh cut flowers or indoor plants, you can easily achieve a spring/summer look in your home. Not only is it good feng shui, it is also fun!
