How Does Your Garden Grow?

In addition to all the other projects we're working on around the house, we have one more to add to the list... getting our organic garden started. I've planted a few things here and there, but we have a problem... We have wild chickens that come into our yard and peck at the succulents I've recently planted. The chickens also like to scratch at the dirt with their feet, which uproots my tiny starter succulents. I'm thinking I will either need to plant my fruits and veggies in raised planters, or I need to put a fence up. I haven't decided what I want to do yet, but I did find a few pictures of what I'd love for my garden to look like. We will also be using a hydroponic gardening system for lettuce and other veggies. Stay tuned for more pictures as we get our gardens up and running.

Check out the flower blooming on our green onions! These are planted in a container above ground and are about five times the size of a normal green onion.
One of my few succulents that have endured the chickens so far :)

Feng Shui Elements

In feng shui, there are five elements used to create a balance: fire, earth, metal, water and wood. These five elements can be incorporated both inside and outside of the home for increased energy, if used in the correct areas. Here are a few examples of these elements. Aren't they beautiful?

I'm Back!

Hi Everyone! I know it has been a while since my last post, but since then, I had a lot of exciting things happen. I became a certified feng shui consultant, and also moved from beautiful, sunny San Diego, back home to Maui. Although I miss my friends in San Diego, and the beauty of the city, I am so happy to be home with my family in this beautiful place I can call home again! Since moving home, we have been painting, re-flooring, and fixing up the cottage we are living in. It has been a lot of work, and we couldn't have done it without the help of my family, and of course, my dad, the handyman. He can fix or make anything!

I have been compiling ideas as we have been fixing up our place. Here are just a few photos I'm using as inspiration for our decor. As you can tell, I want our house to have a light, bright and airy feel to it. I'm hoping I don't go overboard on the bright colors, but I think I can do it right! I will, of course, be incorporating what I learned in feng shui both inside and outside our home.

Stay tuned for before and after pictures, DIY projects, my gardening adventures, and everything else I've been working on while I was gone!

I also want to send a special shout out to my dear friend, Faith, who has inspired and motivated me throughout this entire process. She is a killer business consultant (check our her website here), and also owns her own sunglasses company for kids (click here). If you need suggestions, advice, or motivation on starting your own business, or even an awesome pair of sunglasses for your child, you should definitely contact her!
